Today’s catch phrase is:
Build relationships with unsaved people.
As ministry leaders, it’s SO easy to get wrapped up in our ministry, our church, our programs, our meetings, and even our outreach opportunities. Certainly we must be focused on the work in front of us, yet we must also be looking around for opportunities outside of our own circle.
My husband and I love multicultural people, and we are blessed to live in a multicultural town. It has been a source of joy for us over the past 4 years to build relationships in our community. We’ve been able to share the Gospel with some of them, and with others the friendships are still developing. It always seems to lift our spirits when God sends us to a divine appointment with someone totally disconnected from our church. It is true missions!
Our churches in general are guilty of being so self focused, so conscious of what will benefit them, and more and more unmindful of the true purpose of the church. I challenge you to ask God to give you some relationships outside of your church that you can work on and pray over with the intent of sharing the Gospel when the time is right. Don’t let yourself become near sighted! And it may be that you have to pave the way and live the example for your people- to show them that true joy and spiritual life within a church comes from letting the Gospel flow out of us and into others. Witnessing is becoming a lost art, and it’s sad because there are SO many creative ways to do it! We just have to have our eyes open to the opportunities, and we need to be ready to impart the hope that we enjoy every day as believers.
Dear ministry leader, have you become near sighted in your ministry? Ask God to open your eyes and to help you as you endeavor to
Build relationships with unsaved people.
Excellent truths! God has been working in my heart in this area. I work FT so it’s hard to find the time to build relationships apart from church family but it’s a command of God. I just made the comment last night to Aubrey Pelletier (Dr. Comfort’s granddaughter)….”I love multicultural people”. She does as well. Some don’t understand that but we do 🙂 Heaven is multicultural. Keep sharing the Truth!
