{Day 18}: Godly Marriage

31DaysofPraying4YourPastor

Key Word/Phrase: Godly Marriage

Key Scripture: Ephesians 5: 25-33

Husbands, love your wives even as Christ also loved the church and gave Himself for it, that He might sanctify and cleanse it with the washing of water by the Word, that He might present it to Himself a glorious church, not having spot or wrinkle or any such thing, but that it should be holy and without blemish. So ought men to love their wives as their own bodies. He that loveth his wife loveth himself. For no man ever yet hated his own flesh, but nourisheth and cherisheth it, even as the Lord the church. For we are members of His body, of His flesh, and of His bones. For this cause shall a man leave his father and mother, and shall be joined unto his wife, and they two shall be one flesh. This is a great mystery, but I speak concerning Christ and the church. Nevertheless, let every one of you in particular so love his wife even as himself, and the wife see that she reverence her husband.

Prayer Guide for Church Members:

“God, give my pastor a strong, Godly marriage. Teach him how to continually love his wife with Your sacrificial love.  Strengthen his relationship with his wife through both the trials and joys of life. Bless him with a unified teamwork as he and his wife serve You together. Give him likeness of mind with his wife on decisions they are called to make. Guide them through conflict to resolution that glorifies You. Help him order his priorities so that his wife is a precious importance to him. Give him creative ideas to make her feel loved, cherished, and secure. Give him courage to shield {as much as possible} his wife from criticism and attack in ministry. Let him communicate openly with his wife, and make her his best friend. Keep him close to Your heart and faithful to his commitment to the wife of his youth. Let his marriage be a beautiful mirror image of the way You love and care for Your Bride- the church. God, give my pastor a strong, Godly marriage. In Jesus’ name, amen.”
