Another year has passed, and that means it’s time to let you in on my reading list from the last 12 months. I had a fantastic reading year! In 2018 I read 40 books- more than I’ve read any other year before. I have learned SO much and have grown spiritually in several areas. I’ve seen God leading my reading choices and using them to deeply root what He is teaching me. I can’t wait to see what He has waiting for me in the books of 2019. But I’m taking a few minutes to look back on my reading material today, and I invite you to do the same. I get a lot of requests in the course of a year for good reading material, so I’ve created a public album this year instead of giving you a list. I hope you enjoy the pictures and my short reviews, and that you are able to glean some books titles for you 2019 wish list.
But first I’ll answer a few questions that I’ve gotten in regards to reading:
- Did I reach my reading goal this year? Yes, I did! In fact, I surpassed it. Last year I read 21 books, and this year I set an annual goal to read an average of 2 per month, and a daily goal to read at least 30 minutes per day. I ended up reading 40 books, averaging over 3 per month.
- Did I read any fiction? Other than many books read to and with my children, no I did not read any fiction books on my own. I have tried valiantly to enjoy fiction, and, at this point in my life, I still cannot get into it. Many of my readers have given me great suggestions of titles, and I thank you for that! I’ll know where to start if I’m ever able to get into fiction.
- How do I read so many non-fiction books? The short of it is this: I take a book with me everywhere, and I use small increments of time to get through books. The long of it all (all my best reading tips) is found in this post.
