Dear Pastor’s Wife,
Psalm 107:9 “For he satisfieth the longing soul, and filleth the hungry soul with goodness.”
Your longings are deep. I know- I have them, too. In ministry we can find ourselves longing for simple things like close friendships or to be understood….or the luxury of feeling normal instead of being looked at differently because we bear the name of “pastor’s wife.” The list goes on- you have yours and I have mine. I bet they are a lot alike. Then there’s God. He reads your list and my list.
And He whispers “You can have all of that….in ME.”
For some of us, earth does not offer satisfaction of our longings. The things we long for aren’t really tangible or things that we can go out and pursue. We long for heart care. And some days we get bogged down with the human aspects of our life. All the while there is this promise…
He satisfieth the longing soul.
He satisfieth the longing.
He satisfieth.
He.
And then He takes it even farther…”He filleth the hungry soul with goodness. As in, He knows exactly what you like and want and need and He slips you a life-plate full of the goodness that you crave. Hunger disappears, and as you reflect you realize that it took surprisingly little to fill you up. No money spent, no work cooking or cleaning up, and no food poisoning. Because HE just did the feeding, and it was perfect.
{He} filleth the hungry soul with goodness.
{He} filleth the hungry soul.
{He} filleth the hungry.
{He} filleth.
{He}.
And it’s enough. Fold into His embrace today….feed on His Word. You will be satisfied and full.
XOXO,
A Kindred Spirit
P.S. Thank you for the way you fill others up with spiritual encouragement!
