31 Days of Whispered Hope for Pastors' Wives

Dear Pastor’s Wife {Day 16}

31 Days of Whispered Hope for Pastors Wives

Dear Pastor’s Wife,

Psalm 115:13 “He will bless them that fear the LORD, both small and great.”

     Are you feeling droopy today? Feeling small? I thought you might be, and you’re not alone. This world we live in- it’s huge. But it’s full of small things. Maybe you feel smothered at times with the smallness of your life- you minister with your husband at a small church in a small town in a small state or province. You live in a small house and spend your days taking care of small people in your home and small animals that keep the small people happy.  Your backyard is small and your car is small.  You make small meals to get through the day – cooking ahead would be nice, but…. Time is small.

     Everything is small.

     The truth of the matter is this: most ministry couples are at small churches. We only hear of the mega churches and multi-site churches because of their size {and maybe because they can’t seem to stay out of the news}, but they are really in the minority. Scattered over this vast earth are thousands of small churches in small corners, being pastored and “pastor’s wifed” by small people like you and I.  And it’s a beautiful thing.

Small is beautiful.

God promises blessing to those who fear Him….both small and great. Remember how He reminded us in Scripture to “despise not the day of small things?”  You may be small, but your Godly influence will be anything but small when God is doing the blessing.

Take heart. Embrace smallness. Embrace blessing.

XOXO,

A Kindred Spirit

P.S. You’re in your small corner, and I’m in mine. Isn’t it grand?! 🙂

  1. I’m loving this series, but this post in particular! We are in a very small church now, after working in large churches for the past 7 years, and its easy to get bogged down and feel like we’re not really making a difference. Thank you for this post!
