31 Days of Whispered Hope for Pastors' Wives

Dear Pastor’s Wife {Day 24}

31 Days of Whispered Hope for Pastors Wives

Dear Pastor’s Wife,

Psalm 104:34 “My meditation of him shall be sweet: I will be glad in the LORD.”

     I don’t know how you like to eat candy….I like to suck on it and savour the flavour for awhile. My children are of the opposite opinion- they chew it up as fast as they can and then want more! Neither method of candy consumption is wrong, but one is more satisfying. And so it is with our heavenly Father: He is sweet to our soul in all of life’s situations, but the satisfaction is longer lasting if we take the time to meditate on Him and His words. Contrast this with the bitter taste we get when we meditate on unkind words, hurtful criticisms, and painful situations that occur to ministry leaders. These thoughts ultimately lead to sadness, leaving our hearts unsettled and unfocused.

When we meditate on the sweetness of Christ in our lives, we reap gladness.

     I see this as a daily and even moment-by-moment choice- “I will be glad in the LORD.” But it is also a comforting promise, because meditating on the right Person will automatically make us glad!  With God, even bitter things can become sweet. So have a sweet day, friend. 🙂

XOXO,

A Kindred Spirit

P.S. I think that YOU are one of the sweetest! 🙂
