Christmas

Why It’s Quiet Around Here…

Hello friends! I hardly want to admit how long it’s been since I’ve blogged…

It’s that time of year again, and I’m an active pastor’s wife, so my time has been consumed  with practicing and playing for cantatas and concerts, decorating and organizing Christmas events for ladies and teens. Oh, yes, I’m first a mom, so I’ve been homeschooling somewhere in there between long hours at the church. 😉 I think it’s finally starting to calm down.

Also, I’ve taken a bit of a writing breather and have purposefully taken extra time to refresh myself spiritually, and to ask God to fill me and work in me something new. He is doing that, and per usual, those times are not pleasant, but the fruit of it all will be so very precious. In the midst of painful circumstances, I am endeavoring to keep my focus on Christ. I’m working my way through “The Greatest Gift: Unwrapping the Full Love Story of Christmas” by Ann Voskamp. It is phenomenal. I can’t even explain it- you’ll just have to get it for yourself. 🙂

As far as the nitty gritties of writing go, I feel many posts stirring in my heart, yet none ready to be on the screen yet. In writing about and for ministry families, I always want to come across with grace. And until a post is spelled out with grace in my heart, it is not ready for the eyes and hearts of others. This often takes time, and I trust you will be understanding with my brief writing absence.

Another thing that has left me empty and yet full is the unexpected viral nature of two of my posts recently.  For some reason, when this happens, I just feel unable to write for awhile afterwards. I’ve been backlogged with answering private emails and responding to comments, so I apologize for that. And if you have written to me, and not heard back, please shoot me an email again because sometimes my messages get caught in the spam filter.

If you know a pastor’s wife who would be blessed by these articles, please share so that we can further the community of women in ministry and better support each other:

  1. Hi, THANKYOU for sharing this. As a fellow pastors wife and blogger, I understand : ). Also I really enjoyed all your fishbowl grace posts : ) I tried many times to post comments on your 30 articles, but had problems, so wanted to try again to say THANKYOU for all of them…
    Merry Christmas.

    1. DeAna, thank you for your sweet words! I’m so glad you enjoyed the 31 day series. Sorry you had trouble commenting! I’ve had a few readers saying the same thing,so I’m trying to figure out where the glitch is. Merry Christmas to you and your family as well! Blessings to you, friend. ((hug))

  2. Enjoy your downtime, time with your family and time with God. Looking forward to hearing your heart when it’s ready to write again. I too am in a similar season and find that stepping back and into the quiet can be good. Blessings to you this Christmas season. Hugs. ~Victoria

    1. Hugs to you, too, Victoria. It’s kind of hard not to feel guilty when not writing, yet it’s probably one of the best things we can do for ourselves- rest and refuel so we have something to write about. 🙂 I hope you have a blessed Christmas season as well! God bless you and your sweet family!
